Why a plastic strip fails here
Florida grass walks. A bed with no hard edge gets a little smaller every season, and the mower scalps the plants along it. We set brick, paver or stone deep enough that a wheel does not kick it out of line. That is also what keeps mulch in the bed instead of on the drive after the first downpour.

The line you want, and whether an association has a say in the material. We price it before we dig.
Questions we get
- Can you do just the edge, not a full bed rebuild?
- Yes. Plenty of jobs are an edge and a mulch refresh.
- Will it hold on sandy soil?
- That is why it gets set deep. A row of brick sitting on the surface is not an edge.
