The yard people actually walk past
Streets near a park get walked. That's one of the pleasant things about this pocket of the city, and it's also why front yards here get looked at far more often than back ones do. Almost everything we are asked to do in Tulip Park is front-of-house: a bed with a real edge on it, planting with some structure rather than three shrubs in a row, mulch that hasn't gone gray, and a driveway that has been washed at some point this decade.
None of that is difficult work. It's simply work that never makes it to the top of anybody's list, because a front yard isn't an emergency right up until the moment it's embarrassing.
Inside the house it's the same story and the same answer — ceilings, drywall, paint and floors, all of it jobs that have been waiting a while.
