One street, two completely different front yards
Paar Drive runs east to west, which means the houses along it face north or south — and those two front yards behave nothing like each other. The south-facing side takes sun most of the day. The north-facing side spends a good part of the year in the shadow of its own house. Planting one the way you'd plant the other is the usual story behind a bed that has been replanted twice and still looks wrong.
Between rains a bed on this street dries out. Mulch at a proper depth is what keeps moisture near the roots — it is not decoration. Beds that get topped up need less watering than beds that don't, and that shows up on the bill.
